Coderch & Malavia

Coderch & Malavia

Coderch & Malavia is the artistic duo formed by Joan Coderch (b. 1959) and Javier Malavia (b. 1970), two internationally renowned Spanish sculptors who began their collaboration in 2015. Their work focuses on the idealized human figure, exploring different attitudes and emotions towards life through a refined bronze sculpting technique.

Their creative process is as unique as their pieces: they work as a four-handed team, sharing every phase of the artwork's creation, from modeling to final finishing. This collaboration is based on shared values such as social commitment to equality, environmental protection, and support for children, principles that permeate their artistic production.

The goal of their work is clear: Beauty as a daily tool for creation. Their plastic universe combines formal perfection and conceptual depth, generating sculptures that convey strength, harmony, and sensitivity.

Their career has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Queen Sofía Prize for Painting and Sculpture for their work Hamlet (2017) and the First Prize at the ARC International Salon for The Swan Dance (2019). They have also received the Mariano Benlliure Sculpture Medal, the TIAC Art Prize, and the Arcadia Contemporary Award.

Today, Coderch & Malavia are established as benchmarks in contemporary figurative sculpture, with works in private collections and international exhibitions.
