Henri Iglesis

Henri Iglesis, a sculptor of Catalan descent born in 1964 in Perpignan (France), currently lives and works in his hometown. In 2008, after a career as a metalworker, he developed an innovative process that has become his hallmark: the blown metal leaf, a copyrighted technique.

His passion for metal and manual work has family roots. The son of a turner-fitter, he spent his childhood observing the work in his father's workshop, learning the value of precision and artisanal dedication. This influence would forever mark his relationship with materials and his understanding of artistic creation.

The inspiration for his technique arose while making a sculpture of his son: he decided to inject air into a piece of welded sheet metal, achieving a unique effect of volume and lightness. Since then, he has perfected this method that combines the shine and solidity of metal with the visual softness of inflated forms.

Henri Iglesis's sculptures convey a playful and creative spirit, with a plastic language that blends humor, imagination, and a characteristic touch of lightness. His colorful and joyful universe invites the viewer to discover a new way of understanding contemporary sculpture, where metal becomes a surprisingly ethereal material.
