Huai Qing Wang

Huai Qing Wang (Beijing, 1944) is one of the great references of contemporary Chinese art. His work merges traditional calligraphy with modern abstraction, creating a unique language where cultural heritage and innovation coexist.

A disciple of Wu Guan-zhong at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts, he was a co-founder of the avant-garde group The Contemporaries in the 1970s. In 1985, after a trip to Shaoxing, he refined his palette towards black and white and consolidated a minimalist abstraction inspired by traditional architecture and furniture.

In 2002, in Barcelona, he collaborated with Polígrafa Obra Gráfica, producing a series of etchings that marked a key point in his graphic work.

He has exhibited in museums and international fairs such as Art Basel, the Guggenheim New York, the Suzhou Museum, the Seattle Art Museum, and the Taipei Fine Arts Museum.

His graphic work reflects discipline and rigor: each piece is entirely crafted by himself, combining tradition, abstraction, and an unmistakable style that has made him a global reference.
