James Mathison

James Mathison, born in Caracas (Venezuela) in 1966, is a sculptor whose work combines solid technical training with an international artistic vision. Although he initially studied Law at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (Caracas, 1985-1990), his true vocation led him toward art. Between 1991 and 1992 he lived in France and England, a key period in his development, where he studied advanced ceramic shell casting technique at the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.

In 1993 he founded his own studio and foundry workshop in Caracas. Between 2002 and 2004 he lived in Paris, which further broadened his artistic projection. Since 2018 he has lived in Madrid, where he currently has his workshop.

His career includes solo and group exhibitions in countries such as Austria, Spain, the United States, Venezuela, and France, consolidating his presence in the international contemporary sculpture scene. His work is distinguished by technical excellence, experimentation with materials, and the ability to convey strength and elegance through forms.
