Javier Garanto Satué, born in Huesca in 1981, is a visual artist who has been developing his work around urban art since 2010. Trained at the School of Art of Huesca, he has participated in reference festivals such as Pinta Malasaña, Calle Lavapiés, Cultura Inquieta (Getafe), Festival Asalto (Zaragoza) and CREA Alcobendas, where in 2022 he won the First Jury Prize.

His first recognitions came in 2009 and 2010, with awards in the comic competition of the Young Art Show of the Government of Aragon. During the following decade, he continued his training in various schools, participated in group exhibitions, and consolidated a style marked by the expression of his personal experience and his critical vision of contemporary society.

In 2018 he moved to Mexico City, an experience that transformed his artistic perspective. There he developed the project “New Normality” during the pandemic, installing more than 50 large-format works on the streets, with the aim of offering an emotional respite in a context of global uncertainty.

In January 2022 he held his first solo exhibition, “Pequeño catálogo de seres”, at La Carbonería Espacio de Arte, presenting twelve large-format works that functioned as visual stories in which people interact with animals or imaginary creatures in settings as diverse as forests, cities or distant planets.

In February of the same year, he presented at the Hybrid fair in Madrid his project “Sizigia”, composed of works in acrylic on glass where layers and transparencies combine as a metaphor for aligned moments and life experiences, in the manner of celestial phenomena.

Javier Garanto's universe is inhabited by imaginary characters —a kind of cronopios— that reflect his experiences and his perception of a fast-paced, impersonal and individualistic society. His work, between the intimate and the social, invites us to pause and find beauty and connection in the midst of contemporary chaos.
