Jordi Alcaraz
Jordi Alcaraz (Calella, Barcelona, 1963) is one of the most prominent contemporary Spanish artists, known for creating a unique dialogue between visual poetry and conceptual projection. His work is articulated through sculpture, painting, and drawing, with pieces that transcend classical plastic tradition and propose an unprecedented and metaphorical view of the world.
Alcaraz employs materials such as glass, mirrors, water, pigments, books, or stone, which he transforms into a personal language where volume, time, and the fragility of the physical world take center stage. His works are characterized by perforations, material tensions, and plays of transparency, allowing hidden and magical spaces to be glimpsed. A style that evokes Surrealism, Abstract Expressionism, and Arte Povera, always in constant renewal.
In 2010, he debuted in the United States with an exhibition that was acclaimed by critics and recognized among the ten best in Southern California. His show “Altered States” (2013) consolidated his international projection. Since then, his work has traveled to galleries and art fairs in the USA, Chile, Germany, Austria, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada, making him a benchmark of contemporary Spanish art on the international circuit.
His creations are part of prestigious public and private collections, including institutions such as the MACBA (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art), the Museu de Montserrat, and the Fundació Vila-Casas.
With a transgressive and deeply poetic style, Jordi Alcaraz invites the viewer to reflect on the visible and the invisible, exploring the changing nature of the physical world through art in constant transformation.
