Josep María Carbó

Artist Josep María Carbó brings a refreshing sense of intimacy and emotion to contemporary watercolor art.A self-taught artist from Premià de Mar, Carbó discovered his passion for drawing in childhood, inspired by the creativity of his grandmothers. What began as a hobby has become a significant artistic career marked by sensitivity, detail, and human connection.Working with pencil and watercolor, Carbó explores the balance between light and shadow, strength and delicacy.

The 2020 pandemic was a decisive turning point.Confined at home, he returned seriously to drawing and began sharing portraits online, where his work quickly reached audiences far beyond Spain, building a global, community-driven portrait project that helped his watercolors enter private collections in Europe, America, and Asia. From 2024, he began exhibiting in shows and galleries. This led him to evolve in the dimensions and format of his work.Internationally in 2025, he participated in group exhibitions in London and NYC.In March 2026, he presented the exhibition Moments at the Museum of Premià de Dalt. His recent works focus on the elegance and independence of women, often portrayed in moments of stillness and reflection. Many of his characters lack faces, allowing viewers to see themselves reflected in the work and establish a personal connection.
