Josep Maria Solà
1970, Sant Feliu de Pallerols, La Garrotxa
At age 7, he began his painting and drawing classes with artist Josep Colomer, a leading figure in Catalan landscape painting. He studied at the Olot School of Fine Arts (Girona). He experimented with various styles until he finally settled on the naturalistic landscape of his homeland, born in the cradle of Catalan landscape, in the La Garrotxa region, and a follower of the main 19th-century artists.
Although his compositions reveal a true 21st-century painter in contrast to postmodern fashions and movements, he possesses great personality, sensitivity, and mastery of the oil-on-canvas technique, which accredits him as one of the great representatives of the Catalan school, and particularly of the Olot school.
Despite his youth, he continues to consolidate his position in the Spanish art scene with his traditional landscapes, which should be considered among the most notable of Spanish figurative art. An artist with great drawing skills, mastery of color, author of timeless themes interpreted in a modern and far from classical way, a man of talent, intelligence, and sensitivity.
