Miguel Olivares
Miguel Olivares, born in Barcelona in 1967, is a visual artist with a solid academic background and a distinguished career in Spanish and international contemporary art. He graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona in 1990, and his passion for drawing and painting manifested from childhood, guiding him toward a creative career marked by exploration and authenticity.
Before starting his Fine Arts studies, he studied design, which enriched his aesthetic sensibility. It was during a stay in Paris, while still at university, that he discovered his true pictorial vocation. Throughout his academic training, he specialized in painting, printmaking, and sculpture, also including a year of doctoral studies.
His first exhibitions took place in Catalan cities such as Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Badalona, and Barcelona, highlighting his participation in the now-defunct Galería Estilo. His first major solo exhibition came in 1997 at Galería Jordi Barnadas, thus consolidating his presence in the art circuit.
Since then, Miguel Olivares has exhibited his work in renowned galleries and fairs in cities such as Toulouse, Turin, Paris, Perpignan, Chicago, Madrid, Los Angeles, New Delhi, and Cali, in addition to numerous shows in Spain, including Sant Cugat del Vallès and Blanes.
In the last ten years, he has resided in Colombia, an experience that has significantly influenced his work, bringing new cultural and thematic nuances to his visual language.
Miguel Olivares's painting is characterized by a refined technique, an intimate narrative, and an expressive palette, making him a consolidated and constantly evolving figure in the contemporary art scene.
