Zush

Zush, pseudonym of Alberto Porta (Barcelona, 1946), is a self-taught artist who later adopted the name Evru, defining himself as ArtCieMist, a fusion of artist, scientist, and mystic. His unique trajectory has made him one of the most singular creators in Spanish contemporary art, internationally recognized in museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the MACBA in Barcelona, and the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid.

The graphic work of Zush occupies an essential place in his production, combining drawing, printmaking, and mixed media to shape the Mental State of Evrugo, a personal universe populated by hybrid beings between the human and the imaginary. His graphic images, charged with psychedelia, symbolism, and a language close to comics, represent the inhabitants of this invented territory, with a visual narrative that draws from Surrealism and the experimentation of the Dau al Set group.

In 2001, after the exhibition TECURA at MACBA, Zush gave way to his new identity as Evru, a conceptual rebirth with which he reaffirmed his integrative vision of art, science, and spirituality. His prints and graphic editions reflect this transition, with an ever-evolving imaginary that connects with tradition, psychology, and technology, even resulting from collaborations with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Today, the graphic work of Zush-Evru remains a benchmark of contemporary experimentation, recognized both by collectors and by major international art institutions.
